I really like the examples that you gave. As I thought about it, King David and Barnabas both, understood the power of beliving in people. Even when, like Saul/Paul had an ugly past and those misfits still believed themselves to be "victims" those two examples spoke faith and trust into them. I bet that was instrumental in empowering them to step out of that past, and out of that victimhood mentality, and into the power and strength of the Holy Spirit, which in turn led to their destiny. Words are SO incredibly powerful!!!
Thanks for the feedback Russell. This helps a ton! You are doing the hardest ReLeading there is! And the most important I might add! Keep at it my friend. It's REAL work!
I love this post today! In our broken society, I feel like it's not just business, church and non-profits who focus on restoring people, but it is also applies to our broken families, neighbors and friends.
Your wisdom and insight is food for our spirits to better equip us to re-lead! Thank you!
This is the ultimate Re-leading!! This is what I get to do every day and year -- the crux of my job!
I inherit a bunch of kids who come from all kinds of broken pasts and bad experiences, and I'm trying to rewire their current mindsets to enable them to not only compete in athletics at their best but enjoy the freedom a "right" mindset brings!!
And every now and then I get to tell them about the Author of that mindset... and where it originates.
I'd love more content like this and about this topic!! SUPER helpful!!
I just have something I'd like to share with everyone....
I think I have mentioned previously that I am reading, and immensely joying, a book & workbook by Shawn Bolz, titled, "Translating God." This guy goes deep!!!
I'm in a group that is studying it together. Our assignment this week was to read chapters 9 & 10. I just finished chapter 9, which I dare say, is one of my favorites so far.
On page #116, it says, "To have true power in relationship to those around us, we have to understand emotional intelligence and practice self-awareness. The more mature we get in love, the more we depend on prayer and our connection with people verses our conversations with them."
In talking about God, later, he says, "He doesn't need our words; He needs our hearts first."
Just thought I'd share that. It meant a lot to me.
