Fantastic word! And quite timely in my own little world. I recently picked up Simon Sinek’s book “Start With Why” and one of the main points early on in this book is that consumers don’t necessarily buy your WHAT (the products, the services, etc.), they buy your WHY. WHY do you do what you do…WHY do you wake up every morning to go do WHAT you do. Your explanation in today’s message parallels the same message, or at least that’s what I took out of it. Having a Biblical backing to all of this just further confirms that we weren’t meant to battle alone and having our WHY on a firm foundation serves as a banner for those that we do life with to rally around and “fight the good fight.”

Thank you for sharing your thoughts in a raw format that brings connection to the table…love it! Looking forward to this week’s sermon!

Be blessed!

Good word. Reminds me of a quote by one of the most revered professional football coaches ever, Vince Lombardi, which I remind myself of often:

“Fatigue makes cowards of us all”

Satan understands that about humanity and, as our primary adversary, waits to attack us most often during our times of fatigue and discouragement.

That’s when We need to rally ourselves with other believers during those times.

So Good. I forgot about that quote from Vince. I might have to use that in my sermon this weekend!

The quote "Fatigue makes cowards of us all" is attributed to both U.S. Army General George S. Patton and Vince Lombardi, the Hall of Fame football coach:

Thanks for the insight from a Biblical perspective. I've heard leadership concepts about giving your team a sense of identity and unifying purpose. It feels much more powerful when it is clearly endorsed from scripture. This continues to amaze me. So many, maybe all, great leadership ideas are hidden somewhere in the Bible. Grateful you are shining a light on that!

100%. Makes sense, Jesus was the greatest leader of all time, so why wouldn't the bible be full of leadership gold?!

As I’ve grown in my leadership, I’ve realized how challenging it can be to distinguish between God inviting me to take a next step of faith and Satan attempting to disrupt my ability to rest. I’ve learned that when I feel like I’m “wasting time” by resting, it’s often a sign that rest is exactly what I need. In those moments, the enemy may be trying to rob me of the renewal God knows is essential for me.

By embracing my true identity in Christ—whether in rest or during an exhausting season—I not only find renewal but also gain clarity about the assignment He has given me. This clarity empowers me to lead my team more effectively, helping them understand where we’re going and why it matters.

Thank you, Jon, for sharing these powerful insights in your video—they’ve truly resonated with me.

Great word! I have found that by raising the banner at work for honesty and integrity in our Finance Dept. AND by being authentic and transparent with my team, it helped them to “hold my arms up” when I was under the gun and exhausted.

I've been listening a lot to songs similar to these. The second song on this track reminded me of the reference you gave to the Israelities being attack when "weary and exhausted." A lot of these songs would have been very applicable to the Israelities coming out of Egypt and crossing the wilderness....

Hope these songs minister to ya'll....

Thank you Rachel!! I love what I’ve heard so far! I’m a 79 year old guy who’s been saved since 1971, but I still need encouragement from our Father on a regular basis. Bless you!!
